Aiden's follow up...

Yesterday, I took Aiden to see his Pediatrician. He has had a consistent cough now for about a week (no other symptoms) and we have noticed on a few occasions that he gets very winded after he runs around.

After Dr. Krist did a complete check and had him breath and blow out air, he told me that he is starting to have some more issues with his asthma. His oxygen levels were at 98% (which is good) and he said right now his chest is not tight but these symptoms show signs that we need to fix his medicines and get it under control. Not what we wanted to hear but we are thankful that this is something that is manageable. He is going to be on a steroid for about 5 days and he also changed one of his inhalers to make it a bit stronger. So we now have to start his morning with a different inhaler and then his ProAir inhaler every 4 hours for the next 2 weeks to see if we can see any change.
We took everything to school this morning and taught his teacher how to administer the inhaler. He is very good with his medicines so he should make it easy for them.
On a side note... he is up to 41 lbs!!
We go back for a follow up in 2 weeks. We are believing for an excellent report.

Our Weekend...

This weekend the boys and I walked in the Great Strides CF Fundraiser for Ayla's Army. Thankfully I brought our jogging stroller because it came in handy once the boys realized they weren't going to be able to run the 3 miles. I kept telling them that they needed to pace themselves but they insisted on trying to keep up with the first person. Well... that lasted about 5 minutes and then they were taking turns in the stroller. For majority of the way, I was pushing them both in the stroller. We came up with a system where Ethan would get in and then hold Aiden. This was a great system for them but added about 80 lbs to my load. So needless to say, I got my workout. We finally made it around the 3 miles and we went back to play on the blow up slide. This of course was the boy’s favorite part. We were all having a great time until... Aiden lost his socks and had a complete meltdown. I mean, lying on the ground, legs flying everywhere and screaming crying at the top of his lungs. So, as you can imagine, I was really embarrassed by this behavior and then of course everyone turns to see what all of the commotion was and so we had to quickly remove ourselves from the situation. Not a great start to our weekend but we did manage to get through it. I can not wait until we get past this stage of whining and temper tantrums. Please no comments that this stage actually never passes!! I am counting on being able to move past this and sometimes that is all that gets me through when we are is mist of a meltdown.

Once we got home, the boys helped their Daddy with the grass. We Ryan has completely redone our backyard. We have a new deck and now we have grass!! We are trying to get the backyard ready for the boys this summer. They are at an age where they love to be outside and play but we live on a corner lot and everyone seems to drive a bit crazy in our neighborhood. The backyard is small but will be a perfect place for the boys run around and get all of their energy out.

This is what the boys were doing instead of helping Daddy with the grass.

Ethan's Field Day

Yesterday was Ethan's Kindergarten field day.  I took the day off from work and kept Aiden out of school so we could both cheer on his brother.  Aiden and I wasted some time before it started at the local coffee shop and shared a bagel and coffee.  Aiden had fun on the playground most of the day.  I was keeping an eye on him but everytime he would get finished playing he would go find someone and tell them that he couldn't find his Mommy.  They knew me well before the day was over.
Ethan had a great time with his class at all of the events.  They did everything from tug of war to picking up marbles out of a baby pool with their toes.
                               Jump rope contest
Bean Bag throwing contest
Picking up marbles with his toes contest
wet sponge contest
He got all wet!  I am sure it felt good since it was so hot outside.
Hula hoop contest
Relay race
Tug of war- Ethan played tug of war 4 times and the last 3 times they had him at the very end of the rope.  I know he is the tallest but he doesn't weight that much.  Needless to say, they only won once but they were so happy!

Beach day

Last weekend the boys and I went to the beach for the first time this season.  It was a bit breezy but we had a great time.  The boys stayed in the water the entire time and I literally had to drag them out when it was time to leave.

Aiden's Dentist appt

Aiden had a dentist appointment this morning.  He is such a big boy.  His nurse is great with him.  She knows very well that he has a major gag reflex so she is extra careful with him.  Before we left for school, I noticed Ethan kept whispering in Aiden's ear and pulling him to the side to talk to him.  Come to find out... he was putting in his request for a toy.

Here he is with the Shrek sunglasses on waiting to get his teeth cleaned.

Worker shoes...

Aiden had a missing shoe this morning.  We looked everywhere (well... Mommy looked everywhere) and had zero luck.  Since that is his only pair of tennis shoes that fit him we had to come up with another option.  Ethan suggested he wear his brown shoes to school which Aiden replied "those are my worker shoes and I can not get them dirty."  His "worker" shoes are the shoes he wears to church.  Every Sunday when he gets dressed for church he asks us "now do I look like a worker man?"
So... after a 10 minute conversation (full of drama) regarding shoes, we finally convinced him to wear his brown shoes since we didn't have another option and needed to leave.

Role Reversal...

This morning I was able to witness a little brotherly love. Lately, the boys have been fighting all of the time. They seem to have that love/hate strongly dislike relationship. They have hit that stage where everything is a competition and if they don't win then you will witness a major meltdown.
As always, I was running behind and I couldn't be late today. I had a follow up appointment with my doctor and had to get the boys to daycare by 7:30. Well... I left the house at 7:26 and then of course I couldn't find my cell phone. I really think I need to have that thing permanently attached to me. Am I the only one that can never find her cell phone?? So I have to turn around, run inside and call my phone and start listening for the ring tone. Gotta love Kelly Clarkston “Because we belong". (Yes, I know... that song is now stuck in your head) So I finally heard her singing and then we were off again to school. By this time... we are past my 7:30 deadline so I explain to the boys that this is going to be a quick drop off. I went through the routine of "I love yous, hugs, and kisses and yes boys, we will pick you up as early as possible." I turn to leave and Aiden just wasn't feeling school today. He started reaching for me and put this pitiful look on his face. I told Ethan to just hug him so I could get out and then he would be fine. I turn and see Ethan is holding him as best as he can but it just isn't working. Aiden takes off after me and catches me at the door. I give them both one last hug and Ethan tells me that "we will be ok. I will take care of Aiden." What a great Big Brother!!
Mornings like these are very hard on a working Mommy. I don't like dropping the boys off and racing out the door. Especially if they are having a rough morning. I know the boys enjoy themselves once they get to school because a lot of times they don't want to leave when we get there to pick them up. On the way to school this morning, Ethan was explaining to me that I needed a job where I can pick him up early just like his other friends. He would like me to be a teacher so he could be a car rider every day. He says he likes school and daycare but when he has had enough, he wants us to be there to pick him up. Wouldn't that be great if when I had enough of work, I could just pack up and go home for the day?!?

Eglin Air Show...

Sunday I took the boys to see the Thunderbirds at Eglin AFB.  They fit right in with their new haircuts!  We had a great time looking at all of the planes and then watching the Thunderbirds.  Aiden fell asleep right before the show began and surprisingly stayed asleep through all of the noise. He wasn't feeling well after lunch but we made it through.

Aiden was very excited.  I think he now wants to be a pilot.

The boys always say that want a monster truck.  This is as close as they are going to get!

Summer haircuts!

It is that time of year again...
Before picture... (I wasn't able to get Ethan's before.  His Daddy got a hold of him too quickly)
 After...

Our little artist!!

Ethan is becoming quite the little artist!
Ethan had show and tell today and he had to bring something that started with the letter "W".  He decided to draw a picture of a whale instead of bringing his stuffed animal.  I was very impressed.

Easter

We had a very busy weekend filled with Easter egg hunts, family time and candy.  Saturday we started off at the park for the Church Easter egg dash.  Then we headed over to the Kay's for some more egg hunting.  Sunday, we started the day at Church and then went to Nana and Papa's for lunch along with... you guessed it... Easter egg hunting.  After wards, we headed to Mimi and Poppy's for our final Easter egg hunt for the year.  We now have enough candy to ensure that our kids teeth will rot out.
Easter Pictures...
Ethan is not able to take a serious picture right now.  At least no one had bunny ears!
